Job title: Assistant Chef for customer-facing café
To prepare and serve food for the café and occasional outside orders to the highest standard.
To maintain the highest level of customer service.
You will be working in an open kitchen therefore this role involves a degree of interaction with customers.
·To assist the head chef and café manager and other staff in maintaining a no-waste stock control.
To contribute to creating new menus with the head chef and café manager.
To maintain the highest levels of food hygiene and health & safety.
The head chef in the first instance and the Café Manager.
Hours: A minimum of 25 hours per week on a shift basis over each month. Weekend work and flexing up weekly hours from time to time will be required.
Salary: Starting at £9.00 per hour (the current recommended by Living Wage Foundation).
Holidays: 20 days pro rata per year, plus 8 days bank holiday (paid and pro-rata), following probation.
Essential skills and knowledge:
· 1-2 years’ experience in a busy kitchen producing a range of high quality foods
· Excellent customer service
· Food safety and allergen awareness certificates preferred
· Excellent communication and team-work
