Job Opportunity - Assistant Chef

Job title: Assistant Chef for customer-facing café

 Purpose

  • To prepare and serve food for the café and occasional outside orders to the highest standard.

  • To maintain the highest level of customer service.

  • You will be working in an open kitchen therefore this role involves a degree of interaction with customers.

  • ·To assist the head chef and café manager and other staff in maintaining a no-waste stock control.

  • To contribute to creating new menus with the head chef and café manager.

  • To maintain the highest levels of food hygiene and health & safety.

Responsible to

The head chef in the first instance and the Café Manager.

Hours:  A minimum of 25 hours per week on a shift basis over each month. Weekend work and flexing up weekly hours from time to time will be required.

Salary: Starting at £9.00 per hour (the current recommended by Living Wage Foundation).

Holidays: 20 days pro rata per year, plus 8 days bank holiday (paid and pro-rata), following probation.

 Essential skills and knowledge:

·         1-2 years’ experience in a busy kitchen producing a range of high quality foods

·         Excellent customer service  

·         Food safety and allergen awareness certificates preferred

·         Excellent communication and team-work

Pizza Night is back, just in time for Christmas! 3 amazing curated courses for £25 per person. Tables are booked in 90 minute slots and we are open between 6-9pm. Space fills up quickly so booking early is advised. We require a £10 per person deposit to secure a booking. Deposits can be paid in store or via online transfer.
